The Orlando Magic are getting good work out of Glen Davis so far this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up,The NBA Playoffs by admin on Saturday 5 May 2012 at 3:34 pm

26-year old Glen Davis is playing out of position at center for the Magic in the playoffs and he’s looking good.  Davis has started 3 games for the Magic against the Pacers so far in the first round of the playoffs and he is averaging 37.0 minutes, 18.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 1.3 blocked shots per game.  He is only shooting 42.6% from the floor, but that’s nitpicking as he has been by far the best offensive player for the Magic so far in the playoffs.

The Orlando Magic need Ryan Anderson to step up

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up,The NBA Playoffs by admin on Tuesday 1 May 2012 at 1:49 pm

Starting power forward Ryan Anderson is getting pushed around by Pacers’ David West in this series so far.  Anderson has played in 2 games (both starts) for the Magic so far in the playoffs and he is averaging 33.0 minutes, 8.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 1.0 steal per game.  The Magic need Anderson to step up if they are going to have any hope at an upset over the Pacers in the first round of the playoffs.  Anderson played in 61 games (all starts) for the Magic during the regular season and he averaged 32.2 minutes, 16.1 points, 7.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  The Magic need Anderson to get back to the player he was during the regular season.

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General,The NBA Playoffs by admin on Sunday 29 April 2012 at 5:57 pm

The Magic played great D as they held the Pacers to a paltry 34.5% shooting from the floor last night, which helped them pull a major upset in Game #1 of this series.  Jason Richardson (17 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals) and Jameer Nelson (17 points, 3 rebounds and 9 assists) led the way for the Magic last night.  Glen Davis was a beast in the paint for the Magic in this game as he finished up with 16 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assist and 3 blocked shots.  The Magic are up 1-0 in this series due to their impressive play last night.

Game #6: Atlanta Hawks 84, Orlando Magic 81

The Magic played good defense last night as they held the Hawks to 39.2% shooting from the floor but it still wasn’t good enough to win.  Dwight Howard led the way for the Magic last night with 25 points, 15 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal and 3 blocked shots.  Hedo Turkoglu also had a decent night with 15 points, 1 rebound, 3 assists and 4 steals in this game.  Jameer Nelson pitched in with 11 points, 6 assists and 3 steals.  The Magic’s season is now over as the Hawks beat them 4-2 in this series.

Game #5: Orlando Magic 101, Atlanta Hawks 76

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General,The NBA Playoffs by admin on Wednesday 27 April 2011 at 12:03 pm

The Magic built up a 79-53 lead after the first three quarters before they called off the dogs.  The Magic played great D last night as they held the Hawks to only 36.2%  shooting from the floor.  With Dwight Howard pretty much a non-factor in this game due to foul trouble, some other guys had to step up.  Jason Richardson led the way for the Magic last night with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist.  J.J. Redick pitched in with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in 19 minutes off the bench.  Ryan Anderson also had a solid game off the bench for the Magic last night with 11 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals.  The Magic are now down 3-2 in this series to the Hawks but last night’s win has to build some confidence for them.

The Orlando Magic should unleash Agent Zero tonight

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up,The NBA Playoffs by admin on Tuesday 26 April 2011 at 8:33 pm

It’s desperation time for the Orlando Magic right now, so they should give Gilbert Arenas a shot to shine tonight.  Arenas came alive in Game #4 for the Magic and he almost brought them all the way back.  He had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 blocked shot in only 22 minutes in that game.  Arenas has now played in 3 games (0 starts) in this series against the Hawks and he is averaging 13.7 minutes, 9.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.  With the way the shooting guards are playing in this series, it’s time to turn Agent Zero loose.
