What a great win by the Magic tonight!  The game ended on a thunderous dunk by Dwight Howard as time ran out!  The Magic shot 54.5% from the floor as a team last night which is outstanding!  Jameer Nelson led the way for the Magic with 31 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.  Dwight Howard had an awesome game with 30 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 3 blocked shots!

Dwight Howard is dominating this season for the Magic

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Friday 9 February 2007 at 1:37 pm

Dwight Howard has been dominating in the paint this season for the Magic.  That is important because he’s the only really skilled big man on the Magic.  Howard is averaging 17.2 points, 11.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.8 blocks per game this season.  He’s hitting 58.3% of his shots from the floor, but most of them are on putbacks and dunks so that % should surprise no one.  Howard does need to get better at shooting free throws as he only makes 61.9% of them.  With his style of play he would average over 20 points a game if he could get that % up to 70.  Teams put him at the foul line at the end of games, so the Magic would also get more wins if he shot better at the line.

The Magic can’t keep up with the Raptors and lose 113-103 in Toronto

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Thursday 8 February 2007 at 10:32 am

The Magic didn’t play any defense last night as the Raptors hit 52% of their shots from the floor.  Can’t blame Dwight Howard for the loss as he scored 32 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and dished out 4 assists.  Keith Bogans had a decent game with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.  J.J. Redick also had a decent game off the bench with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Magic fell to 25-25 on the season with this loss.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270207028

The Magic can’t keep up with the Bucks and lose 116-111 in Milwaukee

The Magic shot well as they hit 52.7% of their shots from the floor, but they forgot to play defense as the Bucks hit 50.6% of their shots!  Dwight Howard led the way for the Magic with 21 points and 11 rebounds.  Keith Bogans started and had a solid game with 19 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists.  Hedo Turkoglu had a solid game with 18 points and 4 assists.

Keyon Dooling to miss some time

Blogged under Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Sunday 4 February 2007 at 1:33 pm

Keyon Dooling is out indefinately with a strained thumb.  He has played in 37 games and is averaging 23.2 minutes, 8.8 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists.  The Magic will probably give rookie J.J. Redick and Travis Diener increased playing time while Dooling is out.

The Magic lose 94-86 to the Knicks in Orlando

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 4 February 2007 at 12:45 pm

The Magic had a rough shooting night as they only hit 37.7% of their shots from the floor and that did them in last night.  Darko Milicic led the way for the Magic with 19 points and 6 rebounds.  Dwight Howard had his usual solid night in the paint with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

The Magic fell to 25-23 on the season with this loss.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270203019

Magic finally letting J.J. Redick play some

Blogged under Front Page,Rookie Reports by Nothing but Net on Saturday 3 February 2007 at 10:55 pm

J.J. Redick is finally getting some playing time and he’s shooting well from long range.  Redick is only hitting 39.6% from the floor, but he’s hitting 42.9% of his three point shots for the season.  He has played in 13 games this season and is averaging 13.2 minutes, 4.8 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.5 assists.  The Magic could really use Redick if he could step up because they are having problems scoring as of late.

Rookie James Augustine has only played in 1 game this season.  He played 4.7 minutes and scored 2 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 2 assists.

The Magic smoke the Nets 119-86 in Orlando

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Saturday 3 February 2007 at 9:57 am

The Magic shot 62.5% from the floor and outrebounded the Nets 47-22 last night and those were the two biggest factors in the blowout win!  Hedo Turkoglu led the way with 22 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists.  Dwight Howard also had a solid game with 19 points and 9 rebounds.

The Magic improved to 25-22 on the season with this win.  http://scores.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270202019

The Magic need more offense from Hedo Turkoglu

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Friday 2 February 2007 at 1:38 pm

With Grant Hill out the next two weeks the Magic need Hedo Turkoglu to step up and play better on offense.  The Magic don’t really have a go to player on offense so they need everyone to contribute. Turkoglu is averaging 11.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game this season.  The Magic need him to at least up his scoring to where it was in his previous two seasons with the Magic when Turkoglu averaged 14.5 points per game.

Grant Hill to miss time

Blogged under Big Magic News,Front Page,Injuries by Nothing but Net on Friday 2 February 2007 at 1:32 pm

Grant Hill will miss 2-3 weeks with a Grade 1 MCL Sprain of the right knee.  The Magic will miss Grant Hill a lot on the court as he’s their second best player on the team.  Hill has averaged 15.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season.  Keith Bogans and Darko Milicic will likely gets bumps in playing time.  Bogans is averaging 4.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  Milicic is averaging 7.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game this season.  The Magic will need Bogans & Milicic to match the numbers that Hill was putting up on offense.
