The Magic outrebounded the Bucks 51-39 and held the Bucks to 37.3% shooting from the floor tonight.  The Magic rushed out to a 56-29 halftime lead and then cruised to a very easy win.  Hedo Turkoglu led the way for the Magic with 17 points and 4 rebounds.  Tony Battie pitched in with 15 points and 6 rebounds.

The Magic lose again 93-83 to the Hawks in Atlanta

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Monday 29 January 2007 at 9:56 pm

The Magic just didn’t play well tonight against the young Hawks.  Grant Hill led the way for the Magic with 21 points and 6 rebounds.  Jameer Nelson had a bad shooting night (6 of 17) and he wound up with 16 points and 5 assists.  Dwight Howard also had a decent game with 15 points and 7 rebounds.

The Magic is fading lately

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 29 January 2007 at 7:11 pm

The Magic haven’t played well lately as they’ve lost 7 of their last 10 games to fall to 23-21 on the season and 3.5 games behind the Wizards in the Southeast Division.  Can’t blame Dwight Howard for the team’s fade as of late as he’s averaging 17.1 points and 12.3 rebounds per game this season.  The Magic really need to keep Grant Hill healthy because he’s the second best player on the Magic.  He’s averaging 15.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game this season.  Jameer Nelson is not a pure point guard as he would rather shoot first.  He’s averaging 13.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.  He will need to either shoot better or pass more to get the Magic to the playoffs.  Hedo Turkoglu has been a little disappointing averaging 11.6 points and 3.5 rebounds this season, and he’s also missed alot of games due to a mysterious flu-like sickness.  The Magic need him to regain his form because they need more offense from him.  The Magic have been getting good production out of the power forward position when you combine Darko Milicic and Tony Battie’s stats as they average 12.8 points and 10.1 rebounds between them.  With Trevor Ariza (8.6 points, 4.5 rebounds) out for awhile, the Magic need someone else to step up off the bench and help the offense.  Keyon Dooling (8.8 points), Keith Bogans and Travis Diener will try to fill that void.

The Magic fold in second half and lose 93-90 to the Hawks in Orlando

The Magic got outscored 52-35 in the second half and that did them in as they lost tonight.  The amazing thing about tonight’s game is that the Magic shot 56.5% from the floor but only scored 90 points.  Dwight Howard led the way for the Magic with 19 points and 4 rebounds.  Tony Battie had a solid game with 14 points and 8 rebounds.  Jameer Nelson added 14 points to the Magic’s effort.

The Magic get blasted by the Mavericks 111-95 in Orlando

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 24 January 2007 at 1:23 pm

The Magic didn’t play any defense as the Mavericks hit 55.8% of their shots from the floor last night and that’s why the Magic lost.  Jameer Nelson led the way for the Magic with 23 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists.  Hedo Turkoglu pitched in with 17 points.  Dwight Howard has his usual solid game with 15 points & 14 rebounds.

Grant Hill steppin’ up

Blogged under Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 24 January 2007 at 12:40 am

The Magic need to find a way to keep Grant Hill healthy because they’re a much better team when he’s on the court.  In his last six games, Hill is hitting 54.1% from the floor and he’s averaged 14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game in those contests.

The Magic whack the Cavaliers 90-79 in Cleveland

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Monday 22 January 2007 at 11:59 pm

The Magic rolled to a 54-38 first half lead and never looked back.  The Magic shot well (54.5%), defended well (held Cavs to 39.2% from the floor) and they outrebounded the Cavs 43-31 and all those factors added up to an easy road win.  Grant Hill led the way for the Magic with 22 points and 5 rebounds.  Dwight Howard had a great game inside with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

The Magic demote Carlos Arroyo to #3 on the depth chart at point guard

Blogged under Big Magic News,Front Page by Nothing but Net on Monday 22 January 2007 at 1:02 pm

Coach Brian Hill has been upset with the play of Carlos Arroyo as of late and he has decided to bench him for awhile.  Arroyo has played in 39 games this season and he is averaging 8.5 points, 2.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season.  Travis Diener is more of a long range shooter type so don’t look for an increase in assists for the Magic.  He has only played in 15 games and is averaging 5.3 points, 0.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.  Look for his numbers to improve with the added playing time.

The Magic have a rough second half and lose 101-94 to the Nets in New Jersey

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 21 January 2007 at 12:35 pm

The Nets outscored the Magic 63-46 in the second half and that doomed the Magic last night.  Hedo Turkoglu led the way for the Magic with 24 points and 8 rebounds.  J.J. Redick had his best game of his rookie season last night with 13 points off the bench.

The Magic played poorly last night as they were outscored 69-48 in the second half and they were outrebounded 50-38 by the Wizards in this game.  Grant Hill led the way for the Magic with 24 points and 5 rebounds.  Dwight Howard had a great game with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 3 assists.
